For many, career personality typing from the 1950s has become a way for people to identify themselves. These identities, labels, or judgments are labels. 🙃 We’ve become popularized through mems, stereotypes, and false narratives.
These narratives are cruel, unimaginative, and untrue.

What is the True Self? Hint it’s Not a Personality Type Identity
I believe the true SELF to be the totality of who you are, your humanness, the logical human who shows up in the world using the five senses. It’s mind feed.
And then there is the flip-side of the true SELF. I believe it to be the beingness of a human being. It is the heart-center, the soul, or as I think of it, the spark of Divine Intelligence that resides in us all. In our beingness, we connect and recognize Divine Intelligence. The unlimited, unimagined, creative vast intelligence of all there IS. It’s the source of all, including every human being and everything you encounter on the planet.
Who We Are in Our Totality?
In essence, our totality creates our personality type, and our soul self unites to create the true SELF. When the true SELF takes control, it expresses Divinely inspired actions through our personality, your personal reality. It’s your beingness expression through your humanness.
When you’ve disconnected from the Soul Self, you’ll only create from the mind, which taps into the past and is fed by what you know, your innate prescriptions of life. In this mental state, you are inspired typically by fear-based actions; ego, not-enoughness, guilt, shame, another’s prescription of who you are…
Yep, it’s time to flip-flop your thinking. As Michael Beckwith so eloquently said, ‘stop looking outside of yourself.‘ And I’ll add, the external world is where you find answers about your life’s direction, purpose, or truth backed with fear. If you want the truth, go within. Intimately know your personality type, but remember, you will need to put your true SELF in charge of your life!

Just Below the Surface of Your Personality Are Extraordinary Tools for Self Growth
Hidden within you is a radiant, light-filled personality answering the question, what makes you unique. I’ll use myself as an example.
I’m an ENTP, or as I’ve designated this type, Inquisitive, while others have labeled my type:
- Innovator
- The Executor
- Debator
- Visionary
- The Inventor
The indicators of my personality type characteristically show up as a novelty seeker, highly creative, and pattern- seekers who thrive on possibilities and opportunities. Wonderful, right?. Yet, if I don’t apply curiosity to all these behaviors, they become prescriptions of what already exists. I will remain in what is because I’ve not embraced my signature curiosity; my desire to learn, explore and grow has become unconscious.
When I recognize curiosity as integral to my true self, I accept who I am and use creativity to gain knowledge. I remain open-minded to what is. I explore differences of opinions and cultures and question the HELL out of everything. It’s what I need to expand my consciousness and be at peace with myself.
Geez, I hope that makes sense.

Your personality Type Isn’t Your Identity It’s a Tool: Let me Digress For a Minute
Yes, I’ve created names for each personality type. I know this doesn’t sound very good, but let me explain. In my upcoming book, I’ve refocused many of the words from career typology into a spiritual typology.
For example, I don’t believe the word association of a dominant trait, the trait you use the most has a positive word association. Speaking factually, when this trait becomes too dominant, overreaching, and controlling, you begin to develop unhealthy behaviors. I’ve re-visioned this dominant trait into the Essential Self as it is “essentially” who you are?
Words Have Energy
Please understand that I do not want words to limit your potential. That would be wrong and arrogant. But since we live in a world that uses words to communicate, I, too, use words.
Words have energy, and I believe this with my whole heart. Here again, the intention is to focus on the word’s energy, not the definition. How does the energy of the word resonate? What does it bring to your attention? Using labels to identify yourself is the old paradigm of personality typing, which opposes personality typing with a spiritual understanding.
Don’t Believe What They Say, Believe What You Feel
When you’re on the web, look at personality profiles and what’s said about your type, don’t take everything literally. Ask yourself how you feel, and please, I include myself, don’t take anybody’s word as to the “gospel of your true SELF.”
Why?
Because you give your power away to another human being, we are all beautiful souls who’ve experienced much in our lifetime. And we see life through these experiences, so they become tainted with our beliefs, values, and so forth. And through these experiences is where we express our opinions.
So I ask, are these your beliefs, values, and opinions. Before you say yes and blindly agree, question it all, and ask yourself, is this MY truth? You will get an answer as the body is quick to respond. If you feel a calm knowingness, the answer is yes, but if you feel your throat tightening, a knot in your stomach, a headache coming on, these are signs that you are moving away from your truth!
